What to Do in the First Hour

1. Get people, pets, and vehicles away from the tree and from anything it is leaning on.
2. Assume every downed or sagging wire is energized. Do not clear brush near one.
3. Photograph the damage widely and up close, including the inside of the house if water is getting in.
4. Cover open roof or window damage only if you can do it safely from the ground.
5. Call your insurer to open the claim, then call us so the hazard can be made safe.
